Over the past 12-18 months, I have been primarily hitting my Body Beast workouts strictly from worksheets, opting not to use the DVD’s. This is partly due to my familiarity of all the workouts and secondly due to the amount of times I need to pause the DVD in order to change equipment for certain exercises.
This has allowed me to introduce some music into my routines to fill the silence and provide some extra motivation. Because, who doesn’t have one or two songs that they really get amped up when they hear?
With the abundant sources of technology, there are A LOT of options when it comes to listening to your favorite jams. I tend to bounce between Spotify and Pandora – both have a smart phone/tablet app, but can also be accessed from your laptop/desktop – which is generally how I use them in conjunction with a bluetooth speaker to fill the room a bit better with the sound.
The biggest difference between the two services is that Spotify allows you to create/share/find playlists with songs that are to your liking, whereas Pandora uses a “station” concept that provides you with songs that are based on your previously chosen artist or song and then your “likes” or “dislikes” as it delivers a variety of music. Which is great when you have grown tired of a particular playlist and just want to hear some random music, but still in line with your music listening preferences.
My Current Spotify Workout Playlist
Here is a playlist that I generally queue up for my early AM workouts – lots of variety, but mostly upbeat and keep the workout energized! Feel free to give it a listen or use it in your next workout.
Do you have a favorite song or playlist you would like to share?
Add a comment below with your favorite workout song or playlist, I’d love to hear some new stuff!
