There are just some combos that were meant to go together;
- peanut butter & jelly
- bacon & eggs
- chips and salsa
- burger and fries
- spaghetti and meatballs
- milk and cookies
While all of those combinations are amazing, they really aren’t optimal food choices on a daily basis (except for bacon & eggs – you should be eating that!).
That being said, I’d like to submit an additional combo that happens to be a personal favorite of mine to that list; mint & chocolate!
Mint chocolate chip ice cream is one of my guilty pleasures in life, but the sugar crash the can sometimes follow is never as enjoyable…
Here’s a tasty way to get a good amount of protein and none of the guilt. Blend up one of these Chocolate Mint Protein Shakes whenever you have the urge to eat a bowl of ice cream. It’s just as sweet and delicious, while being filled with the protein that your muscles need.
- 1 cup ice
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 Tablespoon chopped dark chocolate
- 1 cup water
- 1 scoop high quality chocolate protein powder
- a few drops of organic peppermint flavoring (find next to vanilla extract at the store)
- fresh mint leaves to garnish (optional)
- Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
- Mix until smooth.
Servings Per Recipe: 1
- 206 calories
- 25g protein
- 13g carbohydrate
- 6g fat
- 80mg sodium
- 3g fiber
