I am all about trying to provide you with the resources that you need to succeed and reach your health and fitness goals! Here is another resource that I think you will find pretty handy!
A Common Question
Nutrition is the area that most people tend to struggle and this is understandable since there is a TON of information available to us here on the Internet and much of that information is contradictory… If this is still the case for you, head over the Nutrition 101 section of this website and check out the article listed there.
In general, most people know the kinds of foods that are not considered “healthy” and also likely know that they should eliminate most of those items from their daily nutrition. However, when it comes to replacing those “unhealthy” options, I have found that most people only have a small list of foods that they think about as healthy alternatives. Ideally, you food intake should have a wade range in variety – this provides a couple of benefits.
- You will be less likely to “burn out” on the things you eat – no one likes to eat the same stuff over and over…
- You will ensure that your body gets it nutrients from several sources – there are several micro-nutrients that your body needs, but if you always eat the same meals over and over, you will likely become nutrient deficient in one or more of these micro-nutrients.
The recommended food guide that you can download below will help give you a larger list of good items to choose from and minimize burn out on things like chicken, rice, and broccoli – though those are on the list as well…
Protein, Carbohydrates, and Vegetables
When you look down at your next meal, take some inventory. Does it have a serving of protein? How about carbohydrates? What about vegetables?
To get your body operating at peak efficiency, you will want to try and incorporate something from each of the categories in your meals, where possible. Of course there are certain meals where having all three isn’t necessary or possible, but if you make that a goal for every meal, I promise after a few weeks of this, you are going to be surprised with the difference in energy levels and performance in your workouts!
The recommended food guide has lists for each of these categories. Some of these foods, you may have heard of, some you may not. Try some new foods! It is possible that you will find some foods that you really enjoy, but have never tried.
