My Story

Coburn Crew

While the Beachbody programs are quite well known, not many people have what it takes to start down the path you have chosen and see it through to day 90. I am going show you how to get through those days when you can’t even roll out of bed let along get up and put your body through a regimen with the likes of P90X and P90X2.  I will help you stay motivated throughout the entire 90 days and give you some tips on how to make your body overcome what you mind is telling you… GIVE UP!

I can hear it coming now…”Who is this guy and why should I listen to him?”

I don’t blame you for the skepticism, but stick with me and I will quickly answer that question.

I am in my 30’s; I live in Indianapolis, smack in the middle of the ever-changing weather of the Midwest. I am the proud father of 4 children – twin girls, a daughter and a son.  As you can imagine, just knowing that; life is busy!  But I still have make time to exercise, fuel my body properly and get the results you see below.

So how did I get started?

Back in early 2009, a friend of mine mentioned that he was starting a new workout routine called P90X and it intrigued me.  At the time, I was one of those “has been” high-school athletes that fell victim to apathy in physical activity and overindulgence at the dinner table. I wasn’t obese, or really THAT overweight, but I would certainly not consider myself to be in shape.  I was subconsciously embarrassed of my outward appearance and my personal confidence was a reflection of this.

Later that week, I started looking into the P90X program and saw enough evidence that I purchased the DVDs from the infomercial. I didn’t purchase the first time I watched it, it was probably after the 4th 0r 5th time, some how my remote would always land on the channel with that commercial airing.  While I waited for the delivery of the little package that would change my life, I started looking into the equipment that was needed to get started.  I got all of the equipment and a few days later, the DVDs had arrived.  I decided not to purchase my equipment from the Beachbody, but rather found what I needed at a local sporting goods store.

I officially started P90X on Monday, April 20, 2009 and successfully completed the program on Saturday July 18th, 2009. I never missed a workout, though sometimes my schedule did vary.  I used the Team Beachbody message boards to find others just like me who were new to the program and were going through the same struggles that I went through.  I also had great support at home, my wife and kids were always joking with me about the things that I would eat, but they also learned to eat a bit healthier at the same time, which was an added bonus.

Since then I have completed several additional rounds of P90X, P90X+ and a few of the One-on-One series sessions.

Below are some photos of my results from the first 90 days of P90X.  As you can see from the results, this program WORKS and I consider myself to be a firm believer in it.

And One year later…

1 Year Later
I received some attention from my friends with my results, and while I was happy with the results, I felt that I could push myself even further.

Just recently, December 2011, I became a Beachbody Coach at the encouragement of my own coach.  I am super excited about the opportunity to start helping others achieve their own fitness goals.  I had several people support me throughout my journey, so I feel that it is now my turn to support those who are where I once had been.

2012 Update

In January of 2012 I started P90X2.  Unlike in my previous rounds of P90X, this time around I had the pleasure of experiencing P90X2 with a group.  We called ourselves the X2 Crew.  The group consisted of over 600 members that were scattered all across the country and many from Canada.

It was an awesome experience and with the help of this group, I was able to make gains in my progress that I am quite confident I would not have made on my own.  P90X2 was such an awesome program and the wide variety offered throughout the entire 90 days is what made it so enjoyable.  I was glad to see that nearly all of the exercises in P90X2 were totally new when compared to the original.

I finished my first round of P90X2 on April 16th as am really pleased with my results.  Many of the other in my group also had awesome results, which is a testament to what an outstanding program P90X2 really is.  I am looking forward to my next round of P90X2, but this time it will be a hybrid of both P90X2 and Insanity: The Asylum.  Many of the same people that were a part of the X2 Crew plan to be included in this hybrid, so I have no doubt that we will continue to see excellent results once we have completed our next 90 days!

Wooww!!! Mind blowing results!!!!! What’s your body fat percentage and weight in the p90x2 results. Also what was your ration on p90x2. You look shredded. Even seems as if you gained mass and lost fat at the sme time.

      Thanks Kevin!
I started out at about 7% BF and 160 lbs, my final BF% was 4.59% at 157 lbs.

My ratio for intake varied during each phase; protein/carbs/fat
First phase I hit the fat shredder plan, 50/25/25.
      Second phase, Energy booster, 30/40/30.
Final phase, endurance, 25/60/25, then back to fat shredder final week.
