As most of you know, I competed in the Beachbody Classic physique competition this past summer in Las Vegas on the main stage in the MGM Grand Arena! It was an amazing experience to say the least. I committed to the event roughly 12 weeks from scheduled date, Jun 20th, 2014 and it hard to believe that it’s been 6 months since that event.
Just last week Beachbody released the entire physique competition on YouTube and because it was done in the MGM Grand Arena, it was shot professionally from numerous angles. Previously, I only had some photos that were taken by people in the crowd and a few taken by professionals that Beachbody hired. I have watched this video only a couple of times, a it is interesting to note that I don’t recall a lot of the specifics about that night, it all went so fast, so having this video is great to have access to and relive that evening.
This video contains both the women’s and men’s competition, so if you have ever wondered what it would be like to participate in this competition, you should definitely check out the video below.
What’s Next?
I have already committed to doing this same competition again in July 2015 in Nashville, TN. Knowing that I will be doing that show this far in advance is probably a little bit better knowing that I have ample time to prepare and get in even better shape this year. In Las Vegas, it was a real challenge since I had to prepare and take with me a lot of the food I needed in the days leading up to the event. This year, since the event will be held in Nashville, TN, it’s withing driving distance, so this won’t be as big of a concern.
I have also decided to a local physique competition prior to that event in July, though this one is going to be an official NPC event and not at all related to anything Beachbody. This event will take place in early April and hosted here in Indianapolis, just minutes from where I live. This gives me roughly 15 weeks to prepare for the event, which is more time than I had for the Beachbody Classic, but a little more pressure is involved. I am looking forward to the challenge that the event in April brings and will give me a good idea on what I need to work on for the July event.
Beachbody programs will continue to be the foundation of my training, particularly Body Beast, but I will likely not be following the schedule as it is laid out in the program guide. The main reason for this is to continue to work on some of my weak points (Chest & Back) and I’ll need to shuffle around some of the training days in order to accomplish this.
Year of The Beast
I will also be leaning on the Year of The Beast group that is just about to wrap up the 2nd round; the 3rd round will get started on 1/12/2015. If you would like to be part of this incredible group of men and women who are also hitting the Body Beast program in preparation for the Beachbody Classic in July 2015, make sure you connect with me to secure your spot. We will only be opening up the group for a 1 week period before we get started. Review the details of the group and it’s requirements here: Year of The Beast – Are You Up To The Challenge
I’ll be posting updates on my progress leading up to this event in April – I really appreciate all of the support that many of you have already shown towards me in this.
