I finally made it to day 90 of my “P90X2/Asylum hybrid”! While this final phase was only 3 weeks in length, it was killer! My lower body was put to the test. The first week of this phase was especially brutal and my legs just felt dead for nearly a week. 3 routines from the Asylum and 3 routines from P90X2.
Unlike the normal P90X2 schedule, the final phase wasn’t just about the PAP routines. Oh no..we had to mix in all of the major Asylum routines; Speed & Agility, Vertical Plyo and Gameday. And everyone knows that you can’t do the Gameday routine with pushing play on the OT routine.
One thing you might have noticed…no Yoga. This was tough, because I think that this routine really does help me stay loose and provide some relief.
Phase 3
So here was the 3 week schedule for the final phase:
- Monday – PAP Lower
- Tuesday – Speed & Agility
- Wednesday – PAP Upper
- Thursday – Vertical Plyo
- Friday – Gameday + OT
- Saturday – PAP Upper
- Sunday – Recovery & Mobility
Repeat for 3 weeks! Like I said, lower body massacre…
Summary
This hybrid has been a lot of fun. I didn’t think that I would like the extra cardio that the Asylum program included, but I found that each each I was challenged and looked forward to matching or exceeding my previous efforts. I think that the additional focus on the lower body probably helped me with my shoulder issues that I seemed to re-aggravate during the strength phase.
If you are looking for a challenge after you have completed either of the P90X2 or Asylum programs, you should definitely give this hybrid a go. You will really enjoy the weekly changes and how well these two programs go with each other!
I huge thanks go out to my Challenge Group teammates; The Asylumites! You guys are awesome and pushed me to my limits each and everyday. Thanks guys, love every one of you!!! I can’t wait to get back it with out next challenge.

Results
Here are my results from 90 days of P90X2 and Insanity: The Asylum.
165 lbs – 5.33% BF – up from 159 – 4.79% BF – I add about 5 lbs of lean muscle. Pretty happy with that considering the extra amount of cardio Asylum added.
So…who is ready to give the “P90X2/Asylum hybrid” a try?
